Let’s shift the narrative - nature is not a cost, but the foundation of economic success. Join us for a day exploring how economics can better reflect nature’s true value and inform stronger decisions.

Conference date: Friday, 20th March 2026
Tickets available here

envecon is the flagship annual conference of the UK Network for Environmental Economists (UKNEE), focused on advancing the practical application of environmental economics to real-world policy and decision-making. Since its launch in 2003, envecon has been the prime event where environmental economics research providers and users have come together.

Now entering its third decade, the conference continues to share policy-relevant economic research. It brings together a wide range of participants, including economists, policymakers, business leaders, academics, and practitioners, from across the UK and internationally.

Each year, the programme showcases the latest applied research across a broad spectrum of topics including natural capital, climate mitigation and adaptation, several economic sectors like agriculture, forestry, fisheries, trade, manufacturing, and methods like economic valuation, appraisal, evaluation and design and effectiveness of market-based instruments and nature markets.

A core strength of envecon lies in its ability to bridge the gap between academic research and practical application. Post Covid, each year we have about 150 participants in person and 70 participants online.  Presentations typically come from a mix of government departments, consultancy firms, research institutes, and universities, ensuring a diversity of viewpoints and strong policy relevance. The event encourages the translation of economic evidence into actionable insights to support real-world environmental and economic challenges.

Its role in fostering cross-sector dialogue, particularly between the public and private sectors, is especially important as momentum grows around green finance, nature-positive policy, and climate adaptation.
