envecon 2027: Date and Call for Papers,

Panels and Posters

Submission deadline: 16 November 2026

Call for Papers, Panels and Posters

envecon is the only environmental economics conference in the UK that brings a large delegation of policy makers together with research providers, NGOs, and the private sector. It is a unique opportunity to meet peers, address decision-makers, and discuss the latest research and policy implications in environmental economics.

We welcome submissions that focus on the application of environmental and behavioural economics through methods such as valuation, appraisal, evaluation, natural capital accounting, and economic instruments. Applications can cover any topic, from agriculture to the marine environment, air quality, climate change, and beyond, with regards to the workings of any economic sector or policy area.

This year, we are particularly interested in fresh perspectives on how we can make positive change for nature, people and the economy: evidence that tests conventional wisdom, panel sessions that approach challenges from different angles, and targeted interventions that create the conditions for such change.

We welcome papers, posters, and panels on any area of environmental economics, including but not limited to:

Challenging narratives – evidence that revisits accepted assumptions, reframes environmental and economic trade-offs, or shows where past wisdom no longer holds.

Lessons learned from practice – examples of policies, markets, community action, business models, or behavioural changes that are delivering measurable benefits, including what enabled them and what limits their transferability.

From risks to opportunity – how environmental risks, constraints, or trade-offs can be reframed as opportunities for innovation, investment, resilience, or improved decision-making.

Different angles on persistent challenges – new methods, cross-sector approaches, institutional arrangements, incentives, or valuation evidence that help address complex environmental problems.

Small changes with wider impact – research on how targeted shifts in choices, governance, investment, regulation, technology, or everyday practice can create significant cumulative effects.

From pilots to implementation – evidence on how pilot projects for new technologies, accounting approaches, and anything in between can be scaled, adapted, or embedded in decision-making.

Investment, enterprise, and delivery – work on scaling up investment, including in SMEs, place-based initiatives, nature-positive business models, public–private finance, and practical delivery mechanisms.

Green growth and jobs – evidence on how environmental policy, investment, and innovation can support sustainable growth, create or transform jobs, and strengthen local or regional economies.

These themes are intended to invite, not restrict. We welcome submissions from across environmental economics, especially work that uses economic evidence in multidisciplinary contexts and speaks to practical policy, business, or societal decisions.
